Classroom Organization

My goal is to run a smooth, creative, and engaging classroom. The classroom layout is an essential feature of an educational program. The layout, organization, and visuals in the classroom are all present in order to support students.

My Classroom Layout

Students should be able to actively participate and be comfortable in a setting that can their individual learning needs.  This layout emphasis student involvement and group activities. It includes, spaces where paraprofessionals and other special education providers can push in and work with students in small groups.

Although, there are times when the entire class would be working from their desk, I would have an area specifically set aside for technology based assignments, online research, or educational programs. Students need a space to focus on this without getting lost on the internet. I have found it helps for a student to work alongside a peer to keep them focused and on task.

Because of its flexible, comfortable seating arrangement, this layout encourages responsible student behavior. Two small group tables in the back are available for group work and reading/writing workshops.  There is sufficient space for both independent work and easy access to group work. Students have a clear pathway to areas for free-time, cool-down time, and a quiet reading area.  Here, they can take a break from academics and read a book and relax.

The teacher's desk placement allows me to easily monitor the class.
